The sounds of the Soviet music scenes

A Little Introduction

I made this list because I really like the music that came out of the USSR and countries that took part in the Warsaw Pact. Despite this scene not being super popular in the West, I think that that these countries have produced some of the most beautiful and emotional music on earth. I know people have different tastes (some more narrow than others), so I divided the list into categories of genres for you to navigate through. I have added a few song samples and tried to give a small description + history of an album/piece (if possible). I will try and keep updating this list once I find more interesting records. I worked on this list for a year and I am very happy with the music selection here at the moment but there is always room for expansion.

I hope you find something enjoyable on here, and maybe one or two artists on this list can get some new recognition and praise that they deserve.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE:

Please note that categorizing Soviet bands is really hard because most of their sound is very eclectic and the groups mixed almost every genre on earth.

This list not only includes Soviet music but also albums and pieces that came out from countries that took part in the Warsaw Pact, this list doesn´t contain any Yugoslavian music though. Not because I don´t like it (I actually love it, Haustor are my favorite) but because there already are great big lists on RYM about that topic.

And also I´m sorry for any grammatical errors, this is such a long list so I probably slipped up a few times.
